September 2019 - February 2021

Teacher, Administrative Director & Co-Founder

The South Asian Empowerment Coalition

I founded an organization where my team and I taught bi-monthly financial literacy workshops to a cohort of 20 women. We held cultural events to raise awareness on stigmas around body image, sexual health and other taboo topics specifically talking about the South Asian community. I also created and implemented the entire PR and marketing strategy while publishing content on social media accounts.

Editor In Chief, President

The Voice Magazine

As Editor In Chief, I compiled, edited, and put together in our magazine issue all the articles submitted to the organization. I supervised a team of 10 people and wrote copy for digital platforms. I also taught bi-weekly creative writing workshops to college students.

Teacher & Human Rights Committee Chair

BlueFoot Print Project

I gave multiple presentations on various human rights abuses and issues around the world. I wrote and edited 10 policy reports detailing human rights issues in Sub-Saharan African, Latin America, and the Middle East. I coordinated with the media team to restructure the website and improve user traffic.

Staff Writer & Reporter

The Daily Targum

I wrote multiple pieces that can be found on my non-fiction portfolio page on politics, culture, policy, business, and other news. I wrote and edited over 4 stories a week. I also interviewed various community members, faculty, and people in the New Brunswick area. 

June 2019 - August 2019

Policy and Communications Intern

Feminist Majority Foundation 

I worked under the Communications Director writing 400-600 word news articles that were published daily for an audience of 50,000 weekly readers. I attended multiple meetings and Congressional hearings on Capitol Hill. I developed communication materials like policy memos, press releases, Twitter posts and compiled program reports. I maintained partnerships with other non-profits through responding to emails, phone calls, and inquiries. I spearheaded the entire PR campaign for their Annual Summit raising awareness on domestic violence in the South Asian community. I also translated informational materials into Urdu.

From assisting on a full 30-minute show to designing graphics in Chyron and programming the teleprompter, I managed multiple priorities in the studio. I'm well versed in operating studio cameras, using audio hardware for talent, and pitching creative concepts.

Interfaith-RISE (Refugee Center)

I worked with immigrant families, refugees, and asylum seekers. I filed client paperwork and assisted the directors in 10 asylum interviews and applications. I taught the ESL classes while working as a translator. I utilized my Urdu, Hindi, and Arabic language skills.

U.S State Department - Foreign Service Fellowship 

I wrote articles for the Islamabad desk in Pakistan on the college experience in the US. I also compiled administrative reports for supervisor.

Grassroots Organizer

Human Rights Campaign

I organized meetings with canvassers, employees, and local LGBTQ organizations. I fundraised over 2k on a weekly basis while lobbying for the Equality Bill to be passed by Congress. I also educated community members on LGBTQ+ discrimination and rights.
